Fargo/ Moorhead metro area consist of three cities including Fargo/West Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN which is located across the Red River of the North. It has a population of over 200,000 and is the largest metro area of North Dakota and western Minnesota.
The area is home to three large postsecondary institutions, North Dakota State University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (NDSU), Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSU Moorhead) and Concordia College.
NDSU is a public research university with 14,500 students known for their Agricultural programs. MSU Moorhead is a public university located in Moorhead, Minnesota. The school has an enrollment of about 6,600 students. Concordia College is a private college, also located in Moorhead, Minnesota. The school is associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and practices the liberal arts.
The Fargo metro area has a lot to offer everyone. Fargo downtown is full of refurbished building with great nighttime entertainment for both young and old. You can take in a minor league baseball game with the Red Hawks or attend a theater performance. The Plains Art Museum exhibits regional, contemporary and Native American works in a revamped old warehouse. Modern and vintage airplanes are on display at the Fargo Air Museum, spread over 2 hangars. An indoor stadium, the Fargo Dome, is the home to the NDSU Bison, 5 time FCS champion football team. It is also a popular venue for many concerts, theatrical shows and other community events. Red River Zoo shelters cold climate species such as red pandas and gray wolves.
Fargo Sanford Hospital is a large regional medical center with a trauma 1 emergency room open in the summer of 2017. Microsoft, Bobcat, Case Tractors as well as other well known companies have a large presence in the Fargo/ Moorhead area.
